Astroneer is a sandbox adventure game developed by System Era Softworks. The game was released via early access in December 2016 before its full release in 2019. Players are tasked with colonizing planets, building structures, and gathering resources.

Items that can be crafted include rover, buggy, tractor, spacecraft, storage silo, atmospheric condenser, research chamber, component smelter, battery, generator, turbine, and solar panels. For example, ammonium can be converted into hydrazine fuel for space shuttle astronauts, or used in its raw form to make limited-use thrusters. When there is a lack of oxygen, the fortune teller replenishes by staying near a buildable mooring, which can be chained remotely to prevent suffocation. In the full release of the game, an "oxygenator" is required to provide a wider range of oxygen when tethering.
Terrain Tool
Each fortune teller has a Terrain Tool, which allows players to gather resources and reshape the landscape. Resources, such as organic matter, quartz, lithium, ammonium and resins, are neatly packaged by Field Tool into convenient stacks. These stacks can then be inserted into slots in fortune tellers' backpacks, storage units, research rooms, etc. Certain resources, such as titanite or clay, can be smelted or combined into more sophisticated materials. The fortune teller also has the option to research and make upgrades to the Terrain Tool, which can be plugged in and unplugged at will.
Backpack
In addition to the Terrain Tool, the Backpack is the main tool of fortune-tellers. The backpack serves as both a player inventory and a HUD, with two quick-use slots, eight storage slots, a basic 3D printer, a small internal power supply (shown by the yellow segment column), and a built-in oxygen tank (shown as a horizontal blue bar). The Terrain Tool, which also has three slots that can be used for storage, hangs on the side of the backpack when not in use. The backpack also contains the Research Catalog, which players use to unlock new crafting blueprints.
